Finance and inequality in times of polycrisis

The current convergence of multiple crises threatens to exacerbate existing social and economic inequalities. Addressing these crises, while transitioning to a more equitable and lower-emission global economy, requires substantial financial resources. This course explores the complex interplay between the financial system and socioeconomic inequalities at both national and global levels. It also examines the tensions and conflicts that emerge from financing the ecological transformation, considering both macroeconomic and microeconomic perspectives. The course consists of lectures by members of the Doctoral Program EQUALFIN (S1, 2h), complemented by a second component (S2, 1h) where students develop their own research projects, focusing on topics or methodologies aligned with the course themes.
