Suntje Schmidt

Suntje Schmidt has been a research fellow at Department “Dynamics of Economic Spaces” of the Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space (IRS) since 2002. She became deputy head of this research department in 2012. In 2016 she was appointed as junior professor for Applied Economic Geography at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a joint appointment by the Humboldt Universität and the IRS. Suntje Schmidt focuses her research on the spatial dimension of knowledge generating arrangements, socially constructed vulnerabilities and resilience strategies in volatile labor markets, spaces and places of cultural and creative industries, the interdependencies of the knowledge economy and space as well as governance and policy approaches for innovation processes.
