Anja Prummer took over the Chair of Microeconomics on August 1, 2024. She is a Research Affiliate at CEPR, Associate Editor at the Economic Journal and the European Economic Review.
Before coming to Berlin, Anja worked at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Cambridge. She completed her doctoral studies at the European University Institute in Florence.
Her research stays included various universities such as the University of California, Berkeley, New York University, Duke University, PUC-Rio and Humboldt University Berlin. Anja Prummer completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and spent a year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during her Master's studies.
In her research, Ms. Prummer focuses on the determinants of social structures, how they influence economic decisions and how they can be changed. Her work is primarily theoretical, with applications in the areas of political economy, culture, and gender. However, she has also worked empirically to test models and document particular social structures.
Through her research on gender, she is also interested in gender equality issues and was Equal Opportunities Officer for the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London for several years.
