Replicating Results from Survey Data
The course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to replicate and extend empirical studies using survey data. Students will improve their proficiency in applied survey statistics, including the application of survey weights and the handling of item non-response. The course provides also an overview over one of the largest household survey panels, the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP), and how to use it for research purposes. Moreover, the course will extend students' knowledge of statistical software as the students have to replicate existing studies using statistical software. Students will also learn how to prepare a replication package so that others can easily reproduce their results.
