Berlin School of Economics - Welcome Event 2022

In a joint event, the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) welcomes the new cohort of PhD students and Research Associates on October 4th, 2022. This year’s welcome event is hosted by the School of Business & Economics, Freie Universität (FU) Berlin.
The highlight of the event is the keynote lecture by the guest of honor, Professor Iris Bohnet from Harvard University. Professor Bohnet is an internationally renowned economist and distinguished expert on questions of gender and diversity in organizations and advises governments and companies on this topic around the world (e.g., Gender Equality Advisory Council of the G7). In her keynote lecture, she will present key insights from her research and from her award-winning book "What Works: Gender Equality by Design".
The President of Freie Universität, Prof. Günter M. Ziegler, PhD, and the Speaker of the BSE, Prof. Dr. Roland Strausz (Humboldt University) will open the event with welcoming remarks. The Executive Vice-President of Freie Universität, Prof. Dr. Verena Blechinger-Talcott, whose areas of responsibility include, inter alia, diversity and gender equality, will also be joining the event.
Further guests at the event will be BSE faculty members from the various universities and research institutions of the Berlin/Brandenburg metropolitan region forming the BSE (see link), as well as BSE’s PhD students and Research Associates.
Moreover, we will welcome national and international researchers who will participate in the “2nd Berlin Workshop on Empirical Public Economics – Gender Economics”, which takes place on October 4th and 5th at the School of Business & Economics of the FU.
